The Department of Indigenous Learning draws on the perspective of Indigenous peoples to provide programming to students so they may better understand contemporary issues. To do so the Department of Indigenous Learning offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree (Indigenous Learning Major), the Honours Bachelor of Arts degree (Indigenous Learning Major), and a minor in Indigenous Learning combined with another discipline.

The Department of Indigenous Learning subscribes to the concept that a well rounded educational experience is gained through a combination of disciplines. Therefore, students are encouraged to select electives which prepare them to enter fourth year undergraduate courses in another discipline or to proceed to graduate work in their chosen field upon successful completion of the Honours program in Indigenous Learning.

The Department of Indigenous Learning offers programs leading to a three-year BA and four-year HBA degrees, including double majors with Philosophy and Women's Studies, as well as a minor and certificate program. The School of Social Work also offers an Honours Bachelor of Social Work with Major Concentration in Indigenous Learning. The Department of Languages offers a Native Languages Minor program. Indigenous Learning programs are also offered with a BEd from the Department of Aboriginal Education in the Faculty of Education.
