Honours BA, BEd (History Major) P/J(TB)

Six Year program
A student may enter the Honours BA program in History after the first, second, or third year, providing an overall B (70%) average has been attained in the History courses taken up to that time. To continue in the program, an overall B average must be maintained in the History courses. All courses will be chosen in consultation with the Department. Students intending to proceed to graduate work in History are strongly advised to include courses in a second language in the program of study.

Prior to Entry into the 2-Year Professional Program
In concurrent Education programs at the Primary/Junior level, students must meet and complete requirements of the partnering Honours degree program including all Pre-Professional Program Education requirements. (See Concurrent Degree Programs Information for Education requirements)

Note: The Indigenous Content Requirement is being met through the successful completion or History 2510.

First Year:
(a) History 1100
(b) One FCE English, French or Indigenous Language
(c) One and one-half FCEs from Type B courses
(d) One FCE elective in Science (General Science 1000 recommended) (see Concurrent Education Content Regulations #1, regarding eligible Science courses)
(e) Education 1050

Second Year:
(a) History 2510
(b) Two and one-half FCEs in History at the second year level
(c) One and one-half FCE electives (History excluded)
(d) Education 2050

Third Year:
(a) Three FCEs in History at the third year level
(b) One FCE electives (History excluded)
(c) One half-course in Music or Visual Arts
(d) One half-course Education elective (see Electives in the Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education Courses list)
Note: Concurrent Education students should check the timetable for Pre-Professional Program course offerings.

Fourth Year:
(a) Three FCEs in History at the fourth year level
(b) Two FCE electives
