Honours BFA, BEd (Visual Arts Major) I/S(TB)

Six Year program
The program offered by the Departments of Visual Arts and Undergraduate Studies in Education leads to the Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts, HBFA (Visual Arts), and Bachelor of Education (BEd), Intermediate-Senior Specialization.

All courses will be chosen in consultation with the departmental counselor prior to registration.

Prior to Entry into Professional Year
In concurrent Education programs at the Intermediate/Senior level, students must meet and complete requirements of the partnering Honours degree program including all Pre-Professional Program Education requirements. (See Concurrent Degree Programs Information for Education requirements)

Note:
For students in concurrent Honours degree programs, 3 FCEs in a second teachable subject will be taken instead of the studio course or elective option in year two and year three of the HBFA Visual Arts program prior to entering the Professional Program. First Year:
(a) Visual Arts 1110 and 1130
(b) Visual Arts 1150 and 1170
(c) Visual Arts 1010, 1030, 1050 and 1070
(d) Visual Arts 1090 and 1091
(e) One-half FCE in English, French or an Indigenous Language
(f) Education 1050

Second Year:
(a) Visual Arts 2211 and 2212
(b) Two FCEs from the following Visual Art studio courses at second year level: Visual Arts 2010/2011, 2014/2015, 2110/2111, 2112/2113, 2114/2115
(c) One-half FCE in English, French or an Indigenous Language
(d) One FCE in second teachable subject
(e) Education 2050

Third Year

(a) One FCE Visual Arts studio course from third year level which continues second year choice from: Visual Arts 3011/3012, 3110/3111, 3013/3014, 3112/3113, 3015/3016
(b) One FCE in second or third year Visual Arts studio courses or one FCE open elective*
(c) One FCE from art history courses: Visual Arts 3231, 3811, 3870, 3871, 4213, 4250
(d) One FCE in second teachable subject
(e) One-half FCE elective from Type E courses
(f) One-half FCE Education elective (see Electives in the Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education Courses list)
Note: Concurrent Education students should check the timetable for Pre-Professional Program course offerings.

Fourth Year:
(a) Visual Arts 4017 and 4018
(b) One FCE Visual Arts studio course from the fourth year level which continues thrid year choice from: Visual Arts 4011/4012, 4110/4111, 4013/4014, 4112/4113, 4015/4016
(c) One FCE from art history courses: Visual Arts 3231, 3811, 3870, 3871, 4213, 4250
(d) One FCE in second teachable subject
(e) *One FCE elective to be determined in consultation with the Department of Visual Arts

Note:

* Students wishing to pursue a Master's Degree in studio art (MFA) are advised to select the studio course.

Fifth and Sixth Years (2-Year Professional Program):
Concurrent Education (Intermediate/Senior) requirements

Note: The Indigenous Content Requirement is being met by the inclusion of 0.5 FCE chosen from the list of Type E courses.
