BASc, BEd (English Major) 4 Year P/J (O)

Six Year Non-Direct Entry Program

Honours BASc, BEd (English) P/J majors may only switch into this program if academically ineligible to continue in or complete the Honours program, and with permission of the Chair of the Department of English. An overall 60%average in English is required.

In addition to English 1115, 2250, 2251, and 2913, students must complete at least eight (8) other FCEs in English. At least one FCE must be chosen from Area 1; at least one FCE must be chosen from Area 2; and at least one FCE must be chosen from Area 3, including at least 0.5 FCE chosen from Type E English courses.

Prior to Entry into the 2-Year Professional Program
In concurrent Education programs at the Primary/Junior level, students must meet and complete requirements of the partnering degree program including all Pre-Professional Program Education requirements. (See Concurrent Degree Programs Informationfor Education requirements)

First Year:
(a) English 1115 and one additional half-course in English at the first-year level
(b) One-half FCE in first-year Interdisciplinary Studies (INTD)
(c) One FCE  in Type C or D courses
(d) One half-course in Music or Visual Arts (counts as Type A)
(e) One and one-half FCE electives
(f) Education 1050

Second Year:
(a) English 2250, 2251 and 2913
(b) One and one-half FCEs in English at the second-year level
(c) One FCE in Type C or D courses
(d) One half-course elective (English excluded)
(e) Education 2050

Third Year:
(a) Two and one-half FCEs in English at the third-year level
(b) One additional half-course in English (excluding English 1238 and 1807)
(c) One FCE in Type C or D courses
(d) One-half FCE in third-year Interdisciplinary Studies (INTD)
(e) One half-course Education elective (see Electives in the Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education Courses list)
Note: Concurrent Education students should check the timetable for Pre-Professional Program course offerings.

Fourth Year:
(a) One and one-half FCEs in English at the fourth-year level
(b) One and one-half FCEs in English at the third or fourth-year level
(c) One FCE in fourth-year Interdisciplinary Studies (INTD)
(d) One FCE elective (English courses beyond the first-year level allowed)

Note:

The Indigenous Content Requirement is being met by the inclusion of at least 0.5 FCE chosen from Type E English courses at any year level.
