Master of Science (MSc) Degree

The Faculty of Engineering at Lakehead University offers four graduate MSc programs: Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

MSc IN CIVIL ENGINEERING
The MSc in Civil Engineering satisfies the demand in academia and industry for highly-qualified personnel in the field of Civil Engineering. This demand is fueled by the need to effectively maintain an aging infrastructure and maintain and develop natural resources in the light of sustainability and environmental stewardship. The program is directed to Civil Engineering bachelor's-level graduates from Lakehead University and elsewhere. The program promotes the development of independent research abilities of students and advanced learning in discipline areas of Civil Engineering. These goals are achieved through a combination of course work and research-based investigation.

MSC IN ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING
The MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering satisfies the demand in academia and industry for highly qualified personnel in the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The program is directed to graduates from the existing undergraduate Electrical Engineering and Software Engineering programs at Lakehead University and graduates from undergraduate programs at other universities. The program fosters independent research abilities of students. These objectives are achieved through a combination of course work and research.

MSC IN ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
The MSc in Environmental Engineering provides a common curriculum to graduates from Engineering and related Natural Sciences in providing effective solutions to environmental challenges faced by industries and communities. This interdisciplinary program brings together faculty members from the disciplines of Chemical, Civil and Mechanical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Forestry and Geology to enable students to carry out multidisciplinary course and research work. This approach helps students achieve an integrated understanding of the multifaceted components of environmental issues.

MSC IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The MSc in Mechanical Engineering satisfies the demand in academia and industry for highly-qualified personnel in the field of Mechanical Engineering. The program is directed to graduates from the existing undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering at Lakehead University and graduates from undergraduate programs at other universities. The program fosters independent research and development abilities of students. These objectives are achieved through a combination of formal course study and research.

The following Engineering Masters Program offerings are available:
Each program is marked with a TB, O or W designation to distinguish where each program is available.
