Advanced Standing Towards Professional Designations

ADVANCED STANDING TOWARDS THE DESIGNATION OF CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT (CA)

(a) Any student contemplating pursuing a C.A. designation should discuss it with the designated faculty advisor. Students planning a career as a Chartered Accountant are advised to enrol in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce Program. A student graduating from Lakehead University with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree, having studied specified courses, may enrol in the program of studies leading to the designation "CA" and receive advanced standing in all 51 semester hours of instruction required, providing a grade of C or better is attained in specific courses.
(b) A student graduating from Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Administration degree, having completed specified courses, may enrol in the program of studies leading to the CA designation and receive advanced standing in a significant number of the 51 semester hours of instruction required, provided that a grade of "C" or better is obtained in specific courses.

ADVANCED STANDING TOWARDS THE DESIGNATION "CERTIFIED MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT" (CMA)

(a) Any student contemplating pursuing a CMA designation should discuss it with the designated faculty advisor. Students planning a career as a Certified Management Accountant are advised to enrol in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce program. A student graduating from Lakehead University with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree, having studied specific courses, may register as a student with the Society of Management Accountants and receive advanced standing in all 22 required courses, providing a grade of C or better was attained in specified courses. All 22 required courses are offered by the Faculty of Business Administration.
(b) A student graduating from Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Administration degree, having completed specified courses, may enrol in the program of studies leading to the CMA designation and receive advanced standing in a significant number of the 22 required courses, provided a grade of "C" or better is attained in specific courses.

ADVANCED STANDING TOWARD THE PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATION "CERTIFIED GENERAL ACCOUNTANT" (CGA)

Any student contemplating pursuing a CGA designation should discuss it with the designated faculty advisor. After completion of any of the programs offered by the Faculty of Business Administration a student will be eligible to receive credit for a significant number of the courses in the program of studies leading to the designation CGA. Lakehead University offers courses entitling students to the maximum exemption allowed by the CGA Association.

ADVANCED STANDING TOWARDS INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATION "ASSOCIATE OF THE CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF SECRETARIES AND ADMINISTRATORS" (ACIS)

Substantial exemptions from the examinations of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators are granted to graduates of the Faculty of Business Administration.

ADVANCED STANDING TOWARDS THE CANADIAN CREDIT UNION INSTITUTE (CCUI) FELLOWS' DESIGNATION

After completion of any of the programs offered by the Faculty of Business Administration a student will be eligible to receive credit for certain of the courses in the program of studies leading to the CCUI Fellows' Designation.

ADVANCED STANDING TOWARDS THE TRUST COMPANIES INSTITUTE BUSINESS EDUCATION CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

After completion of the programs offered by the Faculty of Business Administration a student will be eligible to receive credit for certain courses in the program of studies leading to the Trust Companies Institute Business Education Certificate Program.

ADVANCED STANDING TOWARD DESIGNATION OF CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL PURCHASER (CPP)

Substantial exemptions are granted to graduates of the Faculty of Business Administration by the Purchasing Management Asociation of Canada (PMAC).

ADVANCED STANDING TOWARD DESIGNATION OF CERTIFIED HUMAN RESOURCE PROFESSIONAL (CHRP)

A graduate of the undergraduate programs in Business Administration may receive substantial credit toward the Certified Human Resource Professional Designation depending upon the courses selected. It is possible for a student to complete a sufficient number of courses to complete the academic requirements for the professional designation upon graduation in the Human Resources Management Major of the Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree program.
