Five Year program

An overall C (60%) average is required in all English courses.

Prior to Entry into the 2-Year Professional Program
In concurrent Education programs at the Intermediate/Senior level, students must meet and complete requirements of the partnering Bachelor degree program including all Pre-Professional Program Education requirements. (See Concurrent Degree Programs Information for Education requirements)

Students must choose two teachable subjects, the first of which is English for students in the BA, BEd (English Major) degree program. See Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education, Levels and Teachables.

In addition to English 1115, 2250 and 2251, students must complete at least 4.5 FCEs in English, including at least 0.5 FCE chosen from Type E English courses.

The following courses do not count as English credits:
(a) English as a Second Language (ESL)
(b) English 1238, 1807

First Year:
(a) English 1115
(b) One-half FCE in English at the first-year level
(c) One FCE elective from Type A courses (English excluded)
(d) One and one-half FCEs in electives from Type B courses
(e) One FCE elective in second teaching field (if already covered by requirements (c) or (d), an open elective can be chosen)
(f) Education 1050

Second Year:
(a) English 2250 and 2251
(b) One and one-half FCEs in English at the second-year level
(c) One half-course elective from Type B courses
(d) One FCE elective in second teaching field
(e) One-half FCE elective (English allowed)
(f) Education 2050

Third Year:
(a) Two FCEs in English at the third-year level
(b) One-half FCE in English at the second or third-year level
(c) One FCE elective in the second teaching field, including at least one half-course at the third year level or above
(d) One FCE elective (English allowed)
(e) One-half FCE Education elective (see Electives in the Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education Courses list)
Note: Concurrent Education students should check the timetable for Pre-Professional Year course offerings.

Note:

The Indigenous Content Requirement is being met by the inclusion of at least 0.5 FCE chosen from Type E English courses at any year level.
