Department of Interdisciplinary Studies Regulations

1. All HBASc students will satisfactorily complete a required one-half (0.5) FCE in a first-year Interdisciplinary Studies (INTD) course, one-half (0.5) FCE in a third-year Interdisciplinary Studies (INTD) course, and one (1) FCE in fourth-year Interdisciplinary Studies (INTD) course. For HBASc Criminology students, Criminology 4801 fulfills the fourth year Interdisciplinary Studies requirement.

2. All HBASc and BASc students will satisfactorily complete at least three FCEs of Type A or B courses, at least three FCEs of Type C or D courses, and at least one-half FCE of Type E courses. Interdisciplinary Studies (INTD) courses do not count towards these area requirements.

3. Courses used towards the General Science discipline must be a combination from at least three of the following disciplines: Anthropology (Science stream only), Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Studies (Science Stream only), Geography (Science stream only) (Note: Geography 3693 not accepted for Science credit), Geology, Meteorology (see General Science and Physics courses), and Physics.  Note that this definition of the General Science discipline is intended to meet the General Science “teachable” requirements used by the Faculty of Education.
