Honours Bachelor in Computer Science -Combined Credential program with Georgian College (O)

This combined degree/diploma program is offered jointly by Lakehead University and Georgian College. Students will concurrently pursue the HBSc degree in Computer Science by Lakehead University and the Computer Programmer diploma offered by Georgian College.

The first and second years of the program are offered on the Barrie campus of Georgian College; the third and fourth years are offered on the Orillia campus of Lakehead University.  Students must successfully complete the following Lakehead and *Georgian courses in order to receive both the diploma and the degree. 

Admission Requirements

 Students wishing to enter the combined HBSc in Computer Science with Georgian Computer Programmer diploma will have met the existing admission requirements for HBSc Computer Science.  That is:

  • Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent;
  • A minimum of 6 Grade 12 U or M courses, or equivalent, including program specific prerequisite courses;
  • A minimum 70% overall final average (Applicants below the entrance average may be considered on an individual basis);
  • 1 credit each in Gr. 12 U English, Gr. 12 U Advanced Functions;
  • 1 credit from: Gr. 12 U Calculus & Vectors, Gr. 12 U Math of Data Management, Gr. 12 M Computer & Info Science;
  • 3 additional Gr. 12 U or M credits (Gr. 12 U Calculus & Vectors and Gr. 12 M Computer & Info Science recommended)

All other regulations that are applicable to students registered in the HBSc Computer Science remain in force.

Notes:

1. Year-to-year continuation in the program requires an average of at least 70% in all Computer Science courses.

2. Students in this program are required to take at least five FCEs outside the Departments of Computer Science and Mathematical Sciences.

3. Electives from the list of program electives must include at least three of: 4478, 4475, 4471, 4311, 4312, 4476.

4. At least one FCE elective from Type C courses (except Engineering) must be at the second year level or higher and such specified electives must not include zero level courses.
