Three Year program

The BA (Sociology Major) is offered at the Thunder Bay Campus and as a non-direct entry program at the Orillia campus. The BA basic requirement is an overall average of 60% in all sociology courses.

First Year:
(a) Sociology 1100
(b) Two FCEs from Type A courses
(c) One FCE from Type B courses
(d) One FCE elective

Second Year:
(a) Sociology 2111 and 2911
(b) One FCE in Sociology
(c) Three FCE electives

Third Year:
(a) Two FCEs in Sociology at the third or fourth year level
(b) Two and one half FCE electives
(c) Sociology 2755 or Sociology 3818

Note: A student who has qualified for the BA (Sociology Major) may qualify for an Honours BA (Sociology) if requirements for honours standing have been met, and by satisfactorily completing the additional required Sociology courses at the honours level.

Note: The Indigenous Content Requirement is being met by taking either Sociology 2755 or 3818 in the third year of the program.

Note: Students cannot count more than 7 FCEs of first year courses toward the degree, and cannot take a first year course in the final year of the program.
