Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts Major) (TB)

Four Year program
The Department of Visual Arts offers a four-year program leading to the Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts, HBFA (Visual Arts).

Students are required to maintain a 70% average in their Visual Arts courses in order to remain in the program. All courses will be chosen in consultation with the Chair of the Department of Visual Arts prior to registration.

First Year:
(a) Visual Arts 1017
(b) Visual Arts 1150
(c) Visual Arts 1010, 1030, 1050, 1015
(d) Visual Arts 1090 and 1091
(e) One-half FCE elective from Type E courses
(f) One-half FCE elective from Type B courses

Second Year:
(a) Visual Arts 2211 and 2212
(b) Two FCE from the following Visual Arts second year level studio courses: Visual Arts 2010/2011, 2014/2015, 2110/2111, 2112/2113, 2030/2114
(c) One FCE in Visual Arts studio courses at second year level or one FCE open elective*
(d) One FCE elective from Type B courses

Third Year:
(a) Two FCE from: Visual Arts 3011/3012, 3110/3111, 3013/3014, 3112/3113, 3015/3016
(b) One FCE in second or third year Visual Arts studio courses or one FCE open elective*
(c) One FCE from Art History courses: Visual Arts 3231, 3811, 3870, 3871, 4213, 4250
(d) One-half FCE elective from Type B courses
(e) One-half FCE elective from Type A courses (Visual Arts excluded)

Fourth Year:
(a) Visual Arts 4017 and 4018
(b) One FCE from: Visual Arts 4011/4012, 4110/4111, 4013/4014, 4112/4113, 4015/4016
(c) One FCE in Visual Arts studio courses at the third or fourth year level
(d) One FCE from: Visual Arts 3231, 3811, 3870, 3871, 4213, 4250
(e) One FCE elective to be determined in consultation with the Chair of the Department of Visual Arts
 
* Students wishing to pursue a Master's Degree in studio art (MFA) are advised to select the studio course.

Note: The Indigenous Content Requirement is being met by the inclusion of 0.5 FCE chosen from the list of Type E courses.
