Honours Bachelor of Arts (Psychology Major)/Bachelor of Education I/S (TB)

Six Year Program

This degree program requires an overall 70% average in Psychology courses. Should this not be attained, students must consult with the Chair of the Department of Psychology. A minimum cumulative average of 65% is required.

Students in other Psychology programs seeking to enter the Honours BA program in Psychology must obtain an overall 70% average in the Psychology courses of the preceding years and must consult with the Chair of the Department of Psychology as additional courses may be required.

Prior to Entry into the 2-Year Professional Program
In concurrent education programs at the Intermediate/Senior level, students must meet and complete requirements of the partnering Honours degree program including all Pre-Professional Program Education requirements. (See Concurrent Degree Programs Information for Education requirements.)

Note 1: Students must choose two teachable subjects. The first teachable must be selected from the list of I/S teachables. The second teachable must be Social Sciences - General. Psychology courses may be counted toward this teachable along with at least two other half credits from qualifying social science disciplines. Three subject areas (including Psychology) must be represented. A 65% minimum average is required in each teachable to enter the professional program (see Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education, Levels and Teachables).

Note: Students who are contemplating graduate studies or other research activities in Psychology are urged to take Specialized Honours in Psychology.

Note: The Indigenous Content Requirement is met by the inclusion of one-half FCE chosen from the list of Type E courses.

Six-year Non-Direct Entry program option

Bachelor of Arts (Psychology Major) 4-year/Bachelor of Education I/S

This program option is for Honours students that are academically ineligible to continue in or complete the Honours program.

Honours BA (Psychology) majors may only enter this program if academically ineligible to continue in or complete the Honours program and with permission of the Chair of the Department of Psychology. This degree program requires an overall 60% average in Psychology courses. Should this not be attained, students must consult with the Chair of the Department of Psychology. A minimum cumulative average of 65% is required.
