Honours Bachelor of Arts (Anthropology Major)/Bachelor of Education P/J (TB)

Six Year program

Prior to Entry into the 2-Year Professional Program
In concurrent Education programs at the Primary/Junior level, students must meet and complete requirements of the partnering Bachelor degree program including all Pre-Professional Program Education requirements. (See Concurrent Bachelor Degree Programs Information for Education requirements)

Note: The Indigenous Content Requirement in the Anthropology programs is met by taking Anthropology 1034.

First Year:
(a) Anthropology 1032 and 1034
(b) One FCE from Type A courses
(c) One FCE in English, French or Indigenous Language
(d) One FCE elective in Science (General Science 1000 recommended) (see Concurrent Education Content Regulations #1, regarding eligible Science courses)
(e) One half-course elective
(f) Education 1050

Second Year:
(a) Anthropology 2110, 2112, 2137, 2151, 2515, 2517
(b) One half-course in Music or Visual Arts
(c) One FCE elective
(d) Education 2050

Third Year:
(a) Two FCEs in Anthropology at the third year level
(b) One FCE in Anthropology
(c) One and one-half FCE electives
(d) One half FCE Education elective (see Electives in the Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education Courses list)

Fourth Year:
(a) Two FCEs in Anthropology at the fourth year level
(b) One FCE in Anthropology
(c) Two FCE electives

Honours Thesis. Students wishing to do an honours thesis (Anthropology 4901) in the fourth year of the HBA or the HBSc program must have a faculty advisor by March 1 of their third year and, by March 31, must (a) have a topic approved by the advisor, (b) submit a thesis proposal and (c) provide a preliminary bibliography of at least 20 appropriate references in a format approved by the advisor.
