Chemistry Programs Information

The Department of Chemistry offers programs on the Thunder Bay campus only.  The core programs are the HBSc and BSc (Chemistry), which provide the greatest flexibility in terms of post-graduate education (e.g. MSc in Chemistry or the PhD in Chemistry and Materials Science), application to health-related professional programs, and employment.  A Concentration in Medical Sciences can be added to the core degree, which specifies additional required courses in medical chemistry, taking advantage of an expertise cluster in medical researchers and facilities in Thunder Bay. Together with the Department of Biology, we also offer joint four-year HBSc and BSc (Biology and Chemistry) programs.

The HBSc designation requires a minimum average of 70%.  All HBSc programs include the opportunity to conduct a year-long original research project (required for the core HBSc (Chemistry) program, optional for other programs).  Concurrent education programs at the Intermediate-Senior and the Primary-Junior levels are also available.
