Honours Bachelor of Science (Geoarchaeology Major)(TB)

Four Year program

A student may enter, proceed in and graduate from the Honours BSc program in accordance with stipulations of the University Regulations section and Faculty of Science and Environmental Studies Faculty Regulations section of the Calendar. All course choices in fourth year must be approved by the Program Committee Chair.

First Year:
(a) Anthropology 1032 and 1034
(b) Geography 1170
(c) Geology 1111 and 1131
(d) English 1015 and a half FCE in English at the first year level
(e) One FCE from: Biology 1110, 1130; Chemistry 1110, 1130; Physics 1211 and 1212; Mathematics 1151 and 1152
(f) One half-course elective

Second Year:
(a) Anthropology 2110, 2112, 2137, 2151, 2515
(b) Anthropology 2517 or Geography 2811
(c) One half-course in Geography at the second year level (Geography 2331 or 2251 is recommended)
(d) Geology 2214 and 2217
(e) One half-course elective

Third Year:
(a) Two FCEs in Anthropology at the third-year level
(b) Geography 2351
(c) Geography 2232 or Natural Resources Management 2350
(d) One FCE in Geology at the second and/or third year level (GEOL 2112 and Geology 3130/Geography 3315 recommended)
(e) One FCE elective (either Mathematics 2310 and 2311 or Geography 2271 and a half-course elective is recommended)

Fourth Year:
(a) One FCE in Anthropology at the fourth-year level
(b) Geoarchaeology 4101 and 4901
(c) Geology 3410
(d) One and one-half FCE electives

Note: By March 31, students eligible to enter the fourth year of the BSc program, and who intend to fulfil the thesis requirement in the next academic year must (a) have a faculty advisor, (b) have a topic approved by the advisor, and (c) submit a thesis proposal including an appropriate bibliography.

Note: The Indigenous Content Requirement in the Anthropology programs is met by taking Anthropology 1034.

Four-year Non-Direct Entry program option

Bachelor of Science (Geoarchaeology Major) 4-year

This program option is for Honours students that are academically ineligible to continue in or complete the Honours program.

The program requirements are the same as for the HBSc (Geoarchaeology Major) program except that students shall not take the honours thesis, as indicated below, and in order to remain in the program, students must maintain at least an overall C average in all Anthropology, Geography and Geology courses.

Fourth Year:
(a) One FCE in Anthropology at the fourth-year level
(b) Geoarchaeology 4101
(c) Geology 3410
(d) Two and one-half FCE electives

Note: The Indigenous Content Requirement in the Anthropology programs is met by taking Anthropology 1034.
