Public Health Graduate Programs Information

MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH

The Department of Health Sciences offers a Standard full-time on-campus, and a Flexible full-time distance Master of Public Health degree.

Taking departure in the Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada, and building on the diverse research and skills of faculty, the Master of Public Health program is primarily intended to build on the knowledge foundation of persons currently working in the field of public health. The curriculum focuses on current issues in the science and/or service of public health, so that students may gain experience through opportunities in any of the fundamental disciplines that underlie public health.

Students have the option of completing one (1) specialization, among: Epidemiology; Gerontology; Indigenous and Northern Health; Social-Ecological Systems, Sustainability and Health; Nursing; or Nursing with Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Electives. Note that students specializing in Nursing with Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Electives must be on-campus.
