Certificate in Public History (TB) - Community Placement

History 4830 Community Placement
An opportunity for students to apply what they have learned in the classroom and gain first-hand experience working in a history related career. A combination of community placement hours, career seminar classes, and other relevant assignments are required. Placements are typically selected from a diverse and varied pre-approved list of placement partners and based on specific criteria and through discussion with the placement coordinator and the site supervisor.

Prerequisite(s):

5 FCEs in History and at least a 70% average in all History courses, registration in the Certificate in Public History Program, or permission of the Chair of the Department of History

Grade Scheme: Pass/Fail
Offering: 1-0; or 1-0 plus placement 150 hours
Notes: After initial registration, students are required to complete an application form, including background information. A current police criminal reference check is also required before placement. Final approval to take History 4830 is based on the application, availability of placements, and approval of the Placement Partner. Open only to Honours History Majors or learners registered in the Certificate in Public History
