History 4850 Introduction to Museum and Heritage Studies
A seminar exploring the field of Museum and Heritage Studies. Students will gain a global perspective and understanding of the history, purpose, activities, programming, and management of museums and heritage institutions. Topics to be studied include issues relating to the definition of museum and heritage sites; memory and history; ethics; conservation and preservation; collecting and collections; and modern technology.

Prerequisite(s):

5 FCEs in History and at least a 70% average in all History courses, or registration in the Certificate in Public History Program, or permission of the Chair of the Department of History
