Psychology 6012 Couples and Family Therapy
Introduces clinical psychology students to front-line therapeutic practices for use with couples and families. Through readings, videos, and student and guest presentations, students will learn about the history, theoretical models, ethical issues, topical foci (e.g., sex and sexual function; fidelity; divorce; domestic violence; illness) and critical contexts (e.g., cultural differences, non-heterosexual couplings) commonly impacting couples and families in care. Students will also use skill building exercises and role plays to begin developing competence with relevant therapeutic techniques.
