Covers a broad range of natural language processing methods and techniques. Topics include linguistic statistics, informational retrieval, probabilistic parsing, semantic structures, text categorization and information retrieval. By implementing and experimenting with the various techniques learned in lectures, students learn the necessary skills to solve complex problems in areas such as text categorization and information retrieval.
