Psychology 3012 The Exceptional Child
An in-depth examination of atypical presentations in children and adolescents which may be the focus of clinical intervention. Emphasis will be given to an understanding of the impact of cognitive, emotional, cultural, environmental, and physical factors on these presentations while challenging current categorical approaches to labeling children and the effect this approach has on provision of services. Focus will be towards interventions to address these concerns, and how to evaluate whether an intervention is “evidence-based”.
