Political Science 4711 New Public Management
Students will be able to understand the development of the new management philosophy and the attendant wave of public sector reforms that has swept across most governments around the industrialized world, with a particular focus on Canada, since the 1980s. The course content examines the distinction between traditional public administration and the new paradigm of managerialism by addressing issues such as privatization, public-private partnership, alternative service delivery, budgetary reforms, human resources management, performance management, and accountability.
