Sociology 3011 Islam and the West
A study of the relationships between Islam and the west by examining current issues and their historical roots, including colonialism and neo-colonialism, orientalism, the (re)production of the clash of civilizations, and the war on terror. We will focus on the representations of Islam and Muslim people and the interplay between these depictions, political economy factors and their links to power and resistance.
