Faculty of Business Administration

Ch. Ranjit Singh Aggarwal Memorial Awards of Merit
$550 (O-AGRBI)
Established in 1996, by his son, Dr. Arjun P. Aggarwal, to serve as a perpetual memorial to his father, Ch. Ranjit P. Aggarwal (1893-1943). This fund is dedicated to assisting future generations of deserving and needy students at Lakehead University. Awarded to a student in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree program on the basis of financial need and a minimum B+ standing. Preference shall be given to permanent residents or first-generation Canadians from India. If no student satisfies this criterion, then the award is open to any permanent resident or first-generation Canadian from any other underdeveloped country. Recipients may not hold the award more than twice.

The John Andrews Commerce Bursary
2 x $500 (O-ANCBI)
Awarded to a deserving full-time Bachelor of Administration or Honours Bachelor of Commerce student who has completed four full courses required for the first year, and is proceeding as a full-time student into the second year of the program.

Mark and Christina Brassard Bursary
$500 (O-BRSBI)
Awarded to a student registered in the Faculty of Business Administration entering his/her third year, on the basis of financial need. Preference shall be given to a student from Thunder Bay.

William H. Buset Memorial Bursary
10 x $1,120 (O-BUSBI)
Created in memory of William H. Buset in 1997. Awarded to deserving students in Business, Music and Visual Arts programs on the basis of financial need.

The Harvey Cardwell Family Bursary
$1,000 (O-CAHBI)
Created in 1996 by Harvey and Darlene Cardwell. Awarded to an in-course student in the Faculty of Business Administration on the basis of financial need and minimum B standing.

H.F. Dougall Company Limited Award of Merit in Business
$1,040 (O-HFDBI)
Awarded to an in-course student in the Faculty of Business Administration who demonstrates determination and leadership potential. The award will also be given on the basis of financial need. The recipient will be determined by recommendation of the Faculty and through the Lakehead University Fall/Winter Bursary Application process. When submitting the bursary application, the student must include a list of extra-curricular activities. Application available in early October to mid-November, by completing both the 2nd Competition Faculty of Business Administration Scholarship/Award Application and the online Fall/Winter Bursary Application. Equipment World Inc. Bursary in Business
$620 (O-EQWBI)
Awarded to a student in Business Administration on the basis of financial need and satisfactory academic achievement.

The R.J. Flatt Memorial Bursary
$520 (MRFBI)
Established in memory of Mr. R.J. Flatt and his family by their friends. Awarded on the basis of financial need and scholastic ability to a student from Northwestern Ontario entering the second, third or fourth year of the Bachelor of Administration or the Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree program.

The French and Niederer Families Bursary
$510 (O-FRNBI)
Awarded to a fourth year Honours Bachelor of Commerce student on the basis of financial need and minimum B standing.

Half-Way Motors (1989) Limited Bursary
$500 (O-HWMBI)
Awarded to a student in the Faculty of Business Administration on the basis of financial need.

Doug Heikkinen Memorial Bursary
$1,140 (O-DHMBI)
Created by family and friends in loving memory of Doug Heikkinen, following his tragic death in 2000. In recognition of Mr. Heikkinen's career as a chartered accountant, the bursary will be awarded to a student in the Faculty of Business Administration on the basis of financial need and satisfactory academic achievement.

Gordon Andrew Johnson Memorial Bursary

2 x $500 (O-GAJBI)
Created in 1997 in loving memory by the family of Gordon Andrew Johnson. Awarded to an in-course student in the Business Administration program on the basis of financial need and a minimum B standing.

Bill McDermott Bursary
$520 (O-MCDBI)
Awarded to a Bachelor of Commerce student in any year on the basis of financial need.

Vincent Mirabelli Family Lakehead University 30th Anniversary Award of Merit in Business
$500 (O-MIRBI)
Created in 1996 by the Vincent Mirabelli Family. Awarded to a full-time in-course Faculty of Business Administration student on the basis of financial need with an overall average of 70% or better who also plays an active role in the student body.

Northern Credit Union Bursary
$250 (A-WFCBI)
Awarded on the basis of high academic standing and financial need to a full-time student in the second, third or fourth year of the Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree program. Preference will be given to a graduate of a Thunder Bay high school.

Northwestern Ontario Chartered Accountants Association Bursary
$850 (O-NWCBI)
Awarded to an accounting major in Year 3 or 4 of his/her program on the basis of financial need and a minimum B+ standing and who intends to pursue a Chartered Accountant designation. Preference shall be given to a student who graduated from a high school in Northwestern Ontario.

Provenzano Group of Companies Lakehead University 30th Anniversary Bursary
$530 (O-PGCBI)
Awarded on the basis of financial need and minimum 'B' standing to an in-course Faculty of Business Administration student registered in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree program.

Pulp and Paper Technical Association of Canada (PAPTAC) Midwest Branch Bursary in Honours Bachelor of Commerce
$550 (O-PPCBI)
Awarded on the basis of financial need to a student who has completed the third year of the Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree and is entering the final year.

Scotiabank Bursary
3 x $1,000 (O-SCTBI)
Preference shall be given to in-course students registered in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce program on the basis of financial need and a minimum B standing.

Twin City Refreshments Ltd. Bursary
$610 (O-TWCBI)
Awarded to a student enrolled in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce on the basis of financial need.

Gunnar Vinters Bursary in Business
$1,100 (O-GVIBI)
Created in 1999 by Dr. Harry Vinters in memory of his father, Gunnar Vinters, long-time Thunder Bay businessman. Awarded to an in-course student enrolled in any program of the Faculty of Business Administration, based on financial need and satisfactory academic standing.

Louise Whent Memorial Bursary

$250 (O-WHTBI)
Awarded to a student in the Faculty of Business Administration on the basis of financial need and satisfactory academic standing.
