Alumni Association of Lakehead University Award
$6,000 ($1,500/year x 4 years) (AALUE)
One entrance award of $6,000 will be made annually to a full-time student entering Lakehead University in the first year of an undergraduate degree program. The award will be paid in two installments at the rate of $1,500 a year for four years. The award is restricted to the immediate family of Lakehead University Alumni. The immediate family is defined as: sister, brother, child, parent, grandparent, spouse, and grandchild. Applicants must have completed an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), including six Grade 12 U and M courses or the equivalent, with a minimum overall average of 80%. Applicants must have displayed leadership ability and community involvement. The recipient of the Alumni Association Entrance Award must maintain full-time status, carrying a 100% course load, and must attain an overall average of 75% in subsequent years. A copy of the most recent transcript is required. This scholarship is not tenable with Lakehead University Northwestern Ontario Leaders' Scholarship nor the Lakehead University Presidential Scholarship. The Keith and Carrie Black Family Award
$510 (KCBFE)
Established in 1993 in memory of the Keith and Carrie Black Family. Awarded to a student registered in any course in any year on the basis of minimum 'B' standing and financial need. Application available online via the Office of Student Financial Aid and Awards website.

Cynthia Briggs Memorial Award
$200 (A-CBRAE)
Established in 1985 in memory of Cynthia Briggs who served as councillor on the Conmee Municipal Council until 1984. Awarded to a student who is attending any high school in Northwestern Ontario and is entering first year at Lakehead University. Granted on the basis of academic standing and community and school involvement. Application available online via the Office of Student Financial Aid and Awards website.

Evelyn Halliday Silver Jubilee Scholarship
$500 (SJEHE)
Awarded to a high ranking student from Northwestern Ontario entering any program on the basis of humanitarian services performed for the disadvantaged. Application available on the Office of Student Financial Aid and Awards website.

Hill City Kinettes Silver Jubilee Scholarship
$520 (SJHCE)
Awarded to a high ranking female entrance student from Thunder Bay showing outstanding community service and financial need. Application available online via the Office of Student Financial Aid and Awards website.

Sylvia Horn Scholarship for Dance
$2,600 (02-SHDSE)
Awarded to an entrance student, in any program. The recipient will provide evidence of participation in dance. This could include high school drama productions, community theatre, dance performance groups, or festival dance competitions. Financial need will also be considered. Hudson-Sioux Lookout Bus Lines Lakehead University Entrance Award
$520 (02-HSBAE)
Created in 2005 by Hudson-Sioux Lookout Bus Lines Inc. Awarded to a student graduating from Queen Elizabeth High School in Sioux Lookout, who has demonstrated community involvement. Financial need will also be considered. Application available on the Office of Student Financial Aid and Awards website.

Knights of Kaleva Entrance Award
$1,250 (A-KKEAE)
In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Finnish Independence. Awarded to an entering first year student on the basis of satisfactory academic standing and/or financial need. Preference shall be given to students of Finnish heritage residing in the District of Thunder Bay. Application available on the Office of Student Financial Aid and Awards website.

Lakehead University Entrance Athletic Scholarships
Number of awards and value vary.
Awarded to entrance athletes who are chosen as members of a 2007-2008 varsity team who meet the CIS and OUA eligibility criteria. Entering students must have an admission average of 80%. Awarded by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries Committee on the recommendation of the Sub-Committee on Athletic Awards. A Lakehead University Athletic Scholarship Application is required and is available on the Office of Student Financial Aid and Awards website.

Lakehead University Northwestern Ontario Leaders' Scholarship
Total value:$20,000 (LUNWE)
Awarded by nomination to the highest ranking graduating student from each of the high schools in Northwestern Ontario, based on the highest six Grade 12 U and M credits. A minimum average of 90% is required. This scholarship is valued at $5,000 for four years provided a minimum average of 80% is maintained for each subsequent year. The Lakehead University Northwestern Ontario Leaders' Scholarship may be held for a maximum of four years or until the first degree is obtained, whichever occurs first. This scholarship is not tenable with the Lakehead University Presidential Scholarship nor the Entrance Scholarship/Award Table.

Lakehead University Northwestern Ontario Regional Science Fair Award
Value: $1,000 (LUSFE)
Awarded to a student in recognition of outstanding scientific merit and the high qualities of inventiveness displayed by an entry in the Northwestern Ontario Regional Science Fair.

Lakehead University Presidential Scholarships
2 x $24,000 (LUPSE)
These national entrance awards, valued at $6,000 a year for four years, are awarded to full-time students entering Lakehead University upon graduation from high school with a minimum average of 90% in best 6 Grade 12 U and M courses or the equivalent. Applicants will be considered on the basis of: a letter of application; letters of support; academic performance; interests and activities involving leadership, citizenship, community service; and an interview with the selection committee. The recipients must maintain an overall average of 80% in the subsequent academic years to be eligible to receive the second, third and fourth installments. The Lakehead University Presidential Scholarship may be held for a maximum of four years or until the first degree is obtained, whichever occurs first. This scholarship is not tenable with Lakehead University Northwestern Ontario Leaders' Scholarship nor the Entrance Scholarship/Award Table. Lakehead University Student Union Silver Jubilee Scholarship
$500 (SJSUE)
Awarded to a high ranking student with financial need. Application available on the Office of Student Financial Aid and Awards website.

Mr. and Mrs. James MacAllan Munro Family Memorial Prize - Poetry

$300 (MMPOE)
Poets among Lakehead University students are encouraged to submit their unpublished poems to the Department of English. The submissions will be judged by three members of the Department of English whose decisions will be final. A Lakehead University Mr. and Mrs. James MacAllan Munro Family Memorial Prize - Poetry Entry form is available on the Office of Student Financial Aid and Award website.

Mr. and Mrs. James MacAllan Munro Family Memorial Prize - Prose
$300 (MMPRE)
To be awarded annually to a student at Lakehead University on the basis of competition. Entries may be either fiction or non-fiction. All submissions will be judged by three members of the Department of English whose decision will be final. A Lakehead University Mr. and Mrs. James MacAllan Munro Family Memorial Prize - Prose Entry form is available on the Office of Student Financial Aid and Awards website.

Polish Alliance of Canada Branch 19 Silver Jubilee Scholarship
$570 (SJPOE)
Awarded to a high ranking student entering Lakehead University in any program. School involvement and financial need may also be considered. Preference will be given to students of Polish heritage. Application available on the Office of Student Financial Aid and Award website.

Polish Combatants R.C.L. Branch 219 Silver Jubilee Scholarship
$520 (SJPRE)
Established by the Polish Combatants Association Branch #1 of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 219 in memory of all the Polish people whose lives were drastically altered by the Second World War. Awarded to a high-ranking student of Polish ancestry entering Lakehead University in any program. If there is no student who satisfies the ancestry requirement, preference will be given to a student majoring in History. Polish Combatants R.C.L. Branch 219 Women's Association Silver Jubilee Scholarship
$560 (SJPHE)
Established by the Polish Combatants Association Branch #1 of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 219 in memory of all the Polish people whose lives were drastically altered by the Second World War. Awarded to a high-ranking student of Polish ancestry entering Lakehead University in any program. Lakehead University Entrance Awards of Academic Excellence
Value: $14,000, $10,000, $6,000, $4,000 and $3,000
Awarded automatically (no scholarship application necessary) to high-ranking Canadian students/permanent residents on the basis of high school average, with a minimum 80%. The scholarship average is calculated on the highest six Grade 12 U and M final and mid-term marks or equivalent, available to Lakehead University in May, 2007. Any newly admitted students, after May, 2007, will be reviewed for scholarships/awards on an on-going basis. The scholarship/award is conditional upon completion of an OSSD or equivalent. The Lakehead University Entrance Award of Academic Excellence may be held for a maximum of four years or until the first degree is obtained, whichever occurs first. These scholarships are renewable provided an 80% average is maintained in each subsequent year on a minimum course load of 80%. Scholarships will be pro-rated for those students taking less than 100% course load. Course loads vary by program and year level. Refer to definitions under Eligibility (d).

The Entrance Awards of Academic Excellence cannot be held with the Presidential Scholarship or the Lakehead University Northwestern Ontario Leaders' Scholarship.

Lakehead University Entrance Awards
Value $250, renewable at 80%
Awarded automatically (no award application necessary) to high-ranking Canadian students/permanent residents on the basis of high school average between 75% and 79.9%. The award average is calculated on the highest six Grade 12 U and M final and mid-term marks or equivalent, available to Lakehead University in May, 2007. The award is conditional upon completion of an OSSD or equivalent. The Lakehead University Entrance Award may be held for a maximum of four years or until the first degree is obtained, whichever occurs first. The award is renewable provided an 80% average is maintained in each subsequent year on a minimum course load of 80%. The 100% course load is the normal course load outlined in the Lakehead University calendar for the student's particular program and year level. Course loads vary by program and year level. Refer to definitions under Eligibility (d).

Lakehead University Undergraduate International Student Awards
Value and Number of Awards Vary
Undergraduate International Students (Study Permit, Student Authorization or Student Visa) entering their first year of studies in a degree or diploma program at Lakehead University may be eligible to receive a Lakehead University Undergraduate International Student Award. There is no application form. Applicants will be automatically considered for this award based on academic performance. Only applicants who qualify for this award will be notified. This award is for one academic year only and cannot be combined with any other Lakehead University funded scholarships or awards. Any questions should be directed to the International Recruitment Officer, Office of Graduate and International Studies.

Lakehead University Regional Entrance Scholarships
$500 each (LUSWE/LUSEE)
Awarded to a high ranking student entering Lakehead University from each of the high schools in Red Lake, Kenora, Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Fort Frances, Rainy River, Atikokan, Ignace, Geraldton, Hornepayne, Manitouwadge, Marathon, Nipigon-Red Rock, and Terrace Bay. A minimum average of 80% is required. This scholarship is not tenable with the Northwestern Ontario Leaders' Scholarship.

William Fitzgerald Langworthy Memorial Scholarship

Awarded on the basis of high academic standing to a student or students who have graduated from Port Arthur Collegiate Institute.
