Bachelor of Engineering Co-Operative Education/Internship Option

Co-operative Education/Internship Option Degree Program

Co-operative Education/Internship (Co-op/Internship) Option Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree programs are available to interested qualified students enrolled in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Software Engineering. Normally, a co-op/internship student would accumulate at least sixteen months of practical work experience and graduate a year later than the students enrolled in the regular BEng degree program. In addition to the industrial experience for which the student earns a salary, the option includes prior workshops on interviewing, resume preparation and work performance. Successful completion of each work term requires the submission by the student of a formal work term report to his/her faculty co-op advisor and a satisfactory assessment of the student's performance by the employer. Work term experience will meet the criteria defining professional experience required for licensure as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
