Honours Bachelor of Arts (French and History Majors)/Bachelor of Education I/S (TB)

Six Year Program

To continue in the program, an overall 70% average must be maintained in the French and History courses with a minimum mark of 70% in French 1200 or 1204 and French 2201.

Prior to Entry into the 2-Year Professional Program
In concurrent education programs at the Intermediate/Senior level, students must meet requirements of the partnering Honours degree program including all Pre-Professional Program Education requirements. (See Concurrent Honours Bachelor Degree Programs Information for Education requirements).

Note: Students must choose two teachable subjects, the first of which is French and the second is History for students in the Honours BA, BEd (French and History Majors) degree program. (See Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education, Levels and Teachables.) 

First Year:
(a) French 1200 or 1204
(b) History 1100
(c) One FCE from Type A courses
(d) One FCE from Type B courses
(e) One-half FCE elective (French 1510 highly recommended)
(f) Education 1050

Second Year:
(a) French 2201
(b) One FCE in French at the second-year level
(c) Two FCEs in History at the second-year level
(d) One-half FCE from Type E courses
(e) Education 2050

Third Year:
(a) French 3650
(b) Two FCEs in French at the third- or fourth-year level
(b) Two FCEs in History at the third-year level
(c) One-half FCE Education elective (see Electives in the Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education Courses list)
Note: Concurrent Education students should check the timetable for Pre-Professional Program course offerings.

Fourth Year:
(a) Two and one-half FCEs in French at the third- or fourth-year level
(b) Two FCEs in History at the fourth-year level
(c) One-half FCE elective

Note:
Students who are contemplating graduate work in History or French are strongly encouraged to take French 4901 or History 4901 (Honours Thesis). French 4901 must be written in French, History 4901 may be written in French or English depending on supervision. 

Note: The Indigenous Content Requirement is being met by the requirement that students take 0.5 FCE chosen from the list of Type E courses and French 3650.
