Familiarizes students with the characteristics and development of young children's language and with the documents provided by the Ontario Ministry of Education for developing Language Arts programs for the primary/junior levels. Topics include: the development of language and thought; the selection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning opportunities in viewing, listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The interrelated nature of these abilities will be explored to provide a framework for meeting individual differences in language development.
