Geography 1170 The Environment with Laboratory
An introduction to current environmental issues using an approach which stresses the interrelationships between environments and societies. The major environmental and societal components of the earth/atmosphere system will be examined to provide a base for the consideration of the nature and development of modern environmental problems. Potential solutions to the problems will be evaluated through consideration of such elements as technology, politics, economics, and planning. Laboratory exercises provide practice and field-based experiences.

Notes: Enrolment limited to Geography, Environmental Studies and Natural Resources Management majors. Students contemplating the Geomatics Certificate program are encouraged to take Geography 1170 instead of Geography 1150. An additional fee (see Miscellaneous fees) is required for this course. Students may only take one of Geography 1150, Environmental Studies 1150, Geography 1170, or Environmental Studies 1170, for credit.Students who have previously taken Geography 1120 or 1140 cannot take Geography 1150 or 1170 for credit.
