Students are provided with the basic operations management concepts to better understand the problems faced by operations managers in both product - and service -oriented organizations. The design and operational management of production and distribution systems will be addressed and the basic tools and methods to effectively and efficiently design and manage these systems will be presented. Students are expected to gain a substantial experience with modeling operations management problems and solving them using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. In addition, students will be able to analyze and evaluate existing production and distribution systems and to propose ways to improve their performance as well as to design new ones.
