The major theme will be organic reaction mechanisms. Material will be presented from a physical organic perspective. Emphasis will be placed on relating structure to reactivity. Topics will be chosen from: Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure; Pericyclic Reactions; Kinetic vs. Thermodynamic Control of Reaction Pathways; Neighbouring Group Participation; Linear Free Energy Relationships; Reactive Intermediates; Organic Photochemistry; additional topics as time permits.
