Education 5410 Indigenizing Social Studies
Across Canada, there is a broad-based recognition of the need to integrate Indigenous knowledge (IK) and pedagogies into schools—yet, teachers, curriculum developers, and policy-makers struggle with the implications of these ideas. Our collective study as a graduate seminar is to question, deconstruct, and decolonize the dominant Eurocentric settler narrative while working to repair, imagine and design new indigenized approaches that will impact the learning of all Canadian students, teachers, and classrooms towards a social justice vision of reconciliation.
