Education 1571 Introduction to Teaching
Students will be introduced to a survey of the foundations and contexts of teaching and learning. Topics may include ethics in the classroom, as well as management of classroom routines and records, and the planning and evaluation of student progress. The relationship of Native language instruction to the larger school environment experienced by children will be highlighted. Ministry documents to be examined will include: Ontario Education Act, Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, OSR Guidelines, Safe and Accepting Schools Policy, Growing Success, Equity and Inclusive Education Strategy, the Ontario First Nation, M├ętis, and Inuit Policy Framework, and other relevant legislation.
