English 3952 National Cinemas and Film Movements
A study of the development of national cinemas, such as Canadian, Spanish, and French cinemas. We will explore the intersections of the national with political and aesthetic movements, including the French New Wave, German Expressionism, and Soviet Montage, as well as counter cinema, and the political and cultural resistance to the national with the emergence of transnational cinema.
