A study of twentieth and twenty-first century English-language literature and cultural expression from the Indian subcontinent and the South Asian diaspora. Texts will include literature, film and/or music from Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Topics to be covered may include the role of literature in partition and nationalism, indenture, urbanization, multiculturalism, migration, and the emergence of India as a global power in the context of globalization and increased outsourcing.
