Representative works of major authors from various genres and literary movements (romanticism, realism) will be studied as literature and as a reflection of 19th century values seen against the profound political, economic, and social shift of the period.

Notes: Students who have previous credit in French 3801 may not take French 3814 for credit. For admission to 3rd and 4th year level courses, students must have completed French 2201 and one FCE in French at the 2nd year level, with a minimum mark of 60% in French 2201 and a minimum overall average of 60% in the French courses.
