An examination of contemporary issues pertaining to sport and physical activity with a Canadian emphasis. Introductory topics include a differentiation of play, games and sport, socialization into, through and out of sport, relevant sociological theories of sport and an historical perspective on sport and physical culture. Emphasis is placed upon the complex relationships between sport and physical activity and various forms of social differentiation including: class, race, gender and education.
