An examination of society in Canada's northern regions. While emphasis will be on the Canadian provincial north, comparisons will be made with similar areas in Scandinavia and the Soviet Union. Topics to be discussed include: theories of regionalism; the social implications of the ecological and economic base; and class, gender and ethnic relations.
